Fall is finally here. The air is crisp and cool and yard sales are back in full swing! I had a great day shopping yard sales today. I went to two different community yard sales where I was able to find some great bargains. There were also a ton of yard sales in my town so I didn’t spend a lot of time driving all over the place. Yay!
The first sale I went to was a total bust. Not the way I like to start my day. The next sale I went to was also a bust BUT I did find out about a town home community sale going on up the street that wasn’t on my list. I headed over and found the following items:
Box of Legos (approx 5lbs worth) w/ nice sterelite container $5. I think the container itself sells for that much at Target. 5lb lots sell for as much as $30 on eBay.
Kids size 5 Keens $2. There’s not a lot of activity for these right now so I’ll save them until next Spring.
The next place I headed was a neighborhood yard sale. It was an older community with lots of knick knacks and such. There was one sale that had kids items. All of the clothes were infant girls clothes but I was able to get the following:
Chico Caddy Hook On High Chair $4. I got this for my son. He has been pushing back from the table in his booster seat and his highchair takes up a lot of room. I can hook this on the counter or dining room table. These sell for about $35 new on Amazon.
Bumbo Seat w/ Tray $5. I got this to resell. These to really well on eBay especially if they have the tray. I’m going to list it for $35 BIN with free shipping this week and see how it goes.
After hitting this sale I headed up to another neighborhood sale. This neighborhood has a community sale every year and I’ve done pretty well there in the past. Today was no different. I went to a lot of yard sales in the development but found one slam dunk. This particular sale was much bigger than all of the others. I started browsing and overheard the following transaction:
“Will you take $17 for these three items?”
With no pause or hesitation the lady says, “Yes. I didn’t even look at the prices on the items but that doesn’t matter we’re just trying to make money for our kid’s soccer team.”
I was excited by this because I knew I was going to get a deal at this sale. I walked away with all of the following for $8:
(55) Books. There were lots of boxes of books so I started pulling anything interesting to me – Berenstain Bears, Clifford, Early Readers, Magic Tree House, etc. I started chatting up one of the sellers and she said someone had come by earlier and asked for Junie B Books and Box Car Children Books. Wish I had been there earlier! Oh well, you can’t get all the deals. Note: There are 65 books in the picture. 10 of them are from a later yard sale. If I count all 65 books it comes out to $.08 each!
(32) kids clothing items including a Children’s Place shirt and GAP sweater NWT! They had the clothing marked $.50 each or fill a bag for $5. Have I mentioned before that I LOVE fill-a-bag sales? The bags weren’t tiny grocery store bags either. Better believe I crammed it full of all sorts of goodies! It came out to $.16 an item!
I hit a few more smaller yard sales around town but didn’t find anything exciting – except for two wooden cigar boxes for $.50 each. I almost didn’t stop at the last yard sale I went to. It was an elderly couple which had items that, from a distance, weren’t appealing to me. I’m glad I stopped because they had some great bargains on items that their granddaughter had outgrown.
60+ piece Dora Lego Set. This set is in great condition. It was obviously only played with at Grandma’s house. Set’s like these go for anywhere between $5 and $30 on eBay.
(10) books seen in the picture above at $.10 each
Crayola No Mess Sponge Painting Kit – New in Box $.50. This is going under the tree for my son this Christmas! I love finding brand new items! They make great gifts and also sell we on eBay.
That’s how I did this week. I’d love to hear what thrifty treasures you found this week either at a yard sale, thrift store or other. Please feel free to leave a comment and/or if you have a blog please link up so we can see all of your finds!

Good finds! Love all the Legos.
Garage sales are very slow now, but consignment sales are picking up at least.
Thanks for the link up!
